The Systems Administrator provides systems administrations support to the Air Combat Command (ACC), Communication Support Squadron (CSS), within the United States Air Force (USAF) product data environments. This position ensures servers, workstations, peripherals; communications devices and operating system/applications software are configured properly for network operation, are on-line, and are available to customers. Additionally, the Systems Administrator is responsible for Network Operations (Cyber Operations), Performance and Configuration Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.
Configuration Management services IAW AFI 17-100.
Monitors and responds to Fault Monitoring Management services.
Collects data by monitoring and analysis of network behavior and reports such data as required by Air Force/DoD customers.
Provides monthly input to the Network Services Outage Report.
Air Force Unique IT Systems Support
Assists the government in the performance of system administration and database
configuration control and documentation support for customer support for unique systems.
Provides hardware maintenance of unique systems.
Executes technology insertion and system refresh required for unique systems as determined
by the Government.
System Administration (SA)
Provides SA for systems, servers, workstations, peripherals, communications devices and
software are on-line and supported.
Complies with the policies IAW AFI 17-100.
Performs the responsibilities delegated by the Network Ops Center (NOC)/Network Control
Center (NCC) to optimize performance and quality of service.
Ensures servers, workstations, peripherals, communications devices and operating
system/application software are properly configured for network operation, are on-line and are
available to customers.
Assigns and maintains user IDs and passwords. Administers user privileges on the system.
Performs routine system maintenance.
Works with the NOC/NCC to implement network security policies and procedures.
Implements software patches and security fixes as required by the Air Force Network Operation and Security Center (AFNOSC) or program management office.
Tests and validates the proper operation and configuration with appropriate patches and fixes,
as required above, prior to restoring any device to the network.
Ensures physical security of DoD Information Network (DoDIN) components.
Monitors difficulty reports, heads-up messages and system advisory notices.
Network Operations (Cyber Operations)
Includes administration/operations of network enterprise services.
Performance Management Services
Provides Performance Management services IAW AFI 17-100, such as trend analysis, predictive modeling and use of other diagnostic tools.
Collects data to develop and report metrics that are approved by Air Force/DoD customers.
Provides input to monthly network services outage report that should include network service
outages, their duration, number of users impacted, etc.
Provides real-time system operational statistics for proactive management of network services.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum years of relevant experience as listed below; or an equivalent combination of experience/education.
Experience with Information Technology (IT) concepts, practices and procedures and be
certified IAW DoD 8570.01-M IAT II and industry standards.
Systems Administrator – 9B – Level 3 (required degree + 6 years of experience)
Systems Administrator – 8B – Level 2 (required degree + 4 years of experience)
Systems Administrator – 7B – Level 1 (required degree + 2 years of experience)
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Must possess Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance
Must have MCSA or MCSE Certification

Knowledge and understanding of the tools, concepts, practices and procedures of security incident management, threat intelligence and continuous monitoring
Knowledgeable of hardware and software capabilities and limitations supporting the functional system
Ability to troubleshoot basic computer hardware / software installations and issues, including Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktop operating systems
Skilled proficiency using and troubleshooting Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat
