  • Overview

    The Lead Security Escort - Telecommunications Technician provides support to the United States Army Special Operations Command facilities at Fort Bragg. This position provides daily security escort services to escort un-cleared contractors and visitors in restricted areas and facilities. This position will also assist with planning, installing, and maintaining network installations as assigned.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    Organizes and directs a team of Security Escorts and monitors and escorts un-cleared workers in restricted areas and facilities at all times.

     

    Maintains visual and auditory contact of all un-cleared visitors under their control except instances where determined by the Project Manager.

     

    Maintains close proximity to visitors to prevent the intentional or unintentional disclosure of classified information, materials, or equipment.

     

    Detects and deters any covert attempt to obtain classified information, material and equipment.

     

    Remains alert and focused at all times while carrying out their escort duties. Will not engage in any activities which will detract from their responsibilities while on duty.

     

    Alerts occupants in all offices prior to permitting an un-cleared visitor to enter.

     

    Takes all breaks, to include lunch, at the same time as the escorted visitor for which the Contractor is responsible, or arranges for another fully cleared and approved Contractor personnel to act as temporary relief.

     

    Immediately notifies the Government Contracting Officer Representative, Headquarters Security, or Project Manager of any security policy, regulation, or any other practices which are inconsistent with sound security procedures.

     

    Provides network installation assistance, listed below, as assigned:

     

    Plans network installations by studying customer orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications.  

     

    Orders and gathers installation equipment, supplies, materials and tools. Assesses installation site and prepares installation diagrams.

     

    Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms. Identifies, corrects, or escalates problems. Works with a Certified Electrician as necessary.

     

    Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables. Records configuration diagrams and specifications.

     

    Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns and answering questions.

     

    Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.

     

    Ensures supplies are ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.

     

    Reports to duty on time and acts in a professional manner at all times.

     

    Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

     

    Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

     

    Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) years’ relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Experience in facility/physical security and on-site escort experience. One year certificate from college or technical school with experience assisting with network installation.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

    Driver’s License

    Must be able to obtain government security clearance

    U.S. Citizens / Green Card only due to government or federal requirement

    Operational knowledge and skill in the standard tools, concepts, practices and procedures of network installation

    Working knowledge and thorough understanding of testing, analyses and corrective action for network installations, tools and equipment

    Solid organizational skills relevant to carrying out day-to-day responsibilities

    Proficient in verbal, written and listening skills

    Exceptional customer service skills

    Detail-oriented with ability to effectively multi-task

    Ability to learn and apply new knowledge in a fast-paced environment

    Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment

    Ability to develop and read technical installation plans and use hand tools

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
